A 16th Century French Pillar Candlestick
The well-defined socket, above a plain but slightly tapering column, sits on a square section stepped base.
Fine condition, and lovely soft colour.
France, circa 1550.
A similar candlestick was included in the Lear Collection sale (Christies, London, December 1998, lot 130), where it is described as a rare variant of the French pillar group.
Height 7.75 inches.
