The Annunciation - A Good Early 16th Century Nuremberg Brass Bowl

Showing in good, crisp detail, Mary standing next to a lectern, listening to Gabriel delivering his announcement. Between them is a vase of flowers and the dove, the sign of peace, hovers over them.

The depth of the bowl, together with the steep sides, would suggest an early date - the first half of the 16th century.

Very good colour, weight and condition.

Nuremberg, circa 1520-40.

Diameter 10.5 inches (26.5 cm).

Ref 3663

Lockner, page 65, Abb 96.
