A Charles I Oak Panelled Chest
The exceptionally thick two plank lid, retaining the original hinges, above a rail with null-carved decoration and original iron escutcheon, and three panelled front. The chest stands exceptionally well on run-moulded stiles.
Outstanding colour, and “surface”.
English, possibly Dorset, circa 1630.
Width 51 inches, depth 21 inches, height 31 inches.
