A Fine James I Carved Oak Armorial Panel

The central shield, with three escutcheons, set beneath a collar, with stylised flowers in the top corners and whorls set mid-way down.

The panel may well commemorate the marriage of Thomas Hitchin and Joanne Kempton on the 8th July 1625, in Knebworth, Hertfordshire. If this is indeed the commemorative panel, then it would be in Charles I’s period.

Wonderful colour and surface.

Width 12.5 inches, height 15.5 inches.

Ref 2435
