A Fine Tudor Carved Oak Panel
The male head, wearing a swept down hat, has finely detailed features, and sits within a roundel supported on a pair of richly carved scrolls.
This style of carving was introduced into England from Italy in the early 16th century, and showed a portrait head, or bust, surrounded by a medallion, widely known as “a Romayne panel”.
