A Small and Rare Charles II Oak Settle

Being of a most unusual construction, the three wide horizontal backboards are clamped between bold uprights, terminating in fluted and arched ends. The slightly down-curved arms resting on baluster-turned supports, between which sits a single-board seat, which is secured to the rails by oak pegs.

The settle is supported on short gun barrel turned legs, joined by plain square stretchers.

Of the most fabulous, rich, burnished colour.

English, circa 1680-90.

Width 38 inches, depth 19 inches, height 43 inches.
