Thomas Branthwayt, died 1676

A most interesting 17th century portrait, in the style of Peter Lely. The sitter, painted within a cartouche, is thought to be of Thomas Branthwayt, a nobleman who lived and was buried in Norfolk.

The picture has immense presence, and hangs in the original carved frame.

East Anglia, circa 1670.

Height 35 inches, width 31 inches (including frame).
