A Wonderful Charles I Oak Wall Cupboard

Below the top rail, which is carved with thumb-gouged decoration, the front is divided into four quarters, each filled with four turned balusters, or spindles.

The pair of panels to the left are set within a run-moulded frame, and are fixed, whilst the pair to the right are set into an opening door, again with a run-moulded frame. All the run-mouldings are embellished with a stylised leaf decoration. The door retains its original iron inset hinges, escutcheon, and pull, together with an intriguing concealed iron locking mechanism.

The ends of the cupboard consist of two vertical panels set into the same type of decorated run-moulded frame. The top and bottom boards are slightly over-hanging and finish with a moulded edge. 

A lovely original cupboard - good colour and patina.
