A Wonderful Small Charles I Oak Hanging Wall Cupboard

Of rare Apex form, the two doors retaining their original iron butterfly hinges, are formed from single boards and open to reveal two internal shelves. The doors are carved with matching pairs of leaves coming from a central vertical stem, with stylised flower heads at the top. The stems sit beneath a semi-circular arch, with a fleurs de lys motif filling the top corners.

The doors sit within a narrow frame, decorated with a continuous chain, the side and centre uprights are further enriched by little leaf-carved centres. The colour and patina are outstanding – the carving style is typical of Gloucestershire, circa 1630.

Width 27 inches, height 18 inches to the shoulders and 24 inches to the centre of the apex, depth 7 inches.
